The Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness is a partnership of local service providers, non-profit organizations, all levels of government, business and the faith community located in Greater Victoria, British Columbia. The Coalition’s mission is to end homelessness by 2018. We do this by bringing together the right partners for each housing and support project.

Research and Communications Intern


The Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness (the Coalition) is seeking a summer student to complete research, literature reviews and data analysis related to the Report on Housing, GVCEHS’s Annual Report and other key projects in support of social services in the area of providing housing with supports for those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless, including youth-at-risk.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Social Inclusion Coordinator will coordinate and participate in the development of a social inclusion process and projects that will foster meaningfully engagement of those who have experienced, or are experiencing homelessness in developing solutions to homelessness.

Homelessness Coalition Releases Community Plan and Housing Procurement Plan

Victoria, BC – Today the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness released both Solving
Homelessness in British Columbia’s Capital Region: A Community Plan, along with the Coalition’s Housing Procurement Action Plan.

The Community Plan provides a summary of the common vision and strategies identified by Coalition
partners to end homeless in the Capital Region. As a three year rolling plan this document is intended to be a catalyst for action by a range of community partners including agencies serving people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Message from students at South Park Family School about homelessness

Dear Readers,

Over the past few months Div.7, of South Park Family School, has been helping the homeless. We have collected 400 blankets and donated them to Rock Bay Landing Homeless Shelter. We have also collected socks, sleepingbags, gloves, soaps and shampoos.

To help you get informed before casting your vote, we are offering an opportunity to learn more about candidates’ views on pertinent issues in the Capital Regional District. We invited candidates to participate in a survey asking 4 questions on their plans to address poverty and affordable housing.

Today we are posting the responses from Victoria candidates. Survey respondents have been invited to an all-candidates meeting on November 9, 2011 at First Metropolitan Church, 925 Balmoral Road from 7 to 9pm.
