There are lots of other actions you can take to make a difference as well:

• Visit our Get Informed page. Understanding the problem is always the first step.
• Donate to the Homeless Prevention Fund through Victoria Foundation.
• Recognize that homelessness and affordable housing is inextricably linked to the economy and the quality of life for all citizens.
• Ask/press your elected official [locally & provincially] on what he/she is doing to create more affordable housing.
• Also support your municipality to:
  • Contribute to the Regional Housing Trust Fund [if they haven’t opted in].
  • Legalize secondary suites.
  • Review the development application processes - streamline to reduce excessive time and costs – which both add to the cost of housing.
• Press the federal government to create a national housing plan in partnership with the province, territories and municipalities.
• Call for set targets for reduction to eliminate homelessness in Canada.
• Call for the increase in minimum wage.
• Invite the Coalition to speak to your group in other municipalities.
• Help to tackle the stigma against people who are vulnerable and marginalized.
• Help people find and keep jobs by donating clothing, money for transportation or bus tickets and passes, and tools for trades. These donations are always needed year-round and can be made at any social service agency that helps people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.
