City Bids on Three Travellers Inn Hotels

Bids have been placed on properties located at 723 Field Street, 710/712 Queen Street, and 120 Gorge Road.

“We know there is a lot of interest in the Travellers Inn sites,” said Fortin. “The City, with our partners, sees an opportunity to provide more housing options for the community, and we are acting on it.”

Since first learning that many of the Travellers Inn properties had gone into receivership, a partnership including the City of Victoria, Capital Regional District, BC Housing and the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness has worked diligently to identify appropriate housing options for each site.

The City’s bids were submitted to the court appointed receivers late Friday, January 29, with a one week expiration date to determine conditions. The receivers may recommend the court judge consider the offer, request changes to the offer or reject the offer. The court judge will announce the bid amount at the court hearing.
